September 26, 2008 The reason I wanted to remind people here to mail in their voter registration card is I think the members of this site are largely analytical, intelligent, and will make the right choice. Failing to register is a major reason that people give for not voting. Federal law requires your employer to allow you the time off do it, and the act of voting gives the people more sway then any protest, especially if you motivate others around you to do so. First and foremost, to register: instructions varies by state. You can find the .pdf to fill out and mail if you search for something like "oregon secretary of state register vote" replacing oregon with your state. Its important to vote this year, not just say who you support, but actually get out and cast your vote. Encourage others in your own social circles to do so. It is not often truly this easily in the hands of the people to directly influence government, then the simplicity of voting. I hope the events of recent times will inspire, and desire a change for tomorrow. A true patriot loves his country enough to recognize and want to correct its shortcomings. |
